For global jetsetters it's familiar sushi lexicon, Nobu has branched out with resort eateries from Dubai and Mykonos to Cape Town and Aspen. Lacking that Japanese design of teak tabletops and oriental wall screens found in more permanent locations, Nobu at Badrutt's Palace occupies the Lake St. Moritz-facing dining room of Le Relais eatery captured in parquet wood floors and swags of heavily-tasseled drapery that's not your usual Nobu dining room. Ornamental columns and stiff chairs lend a dressier vibe, which also comes with a dress code of "jacket required, tie desired" that may surprise its rock star and celebrity regulars.

The Food

The menu of Nobu is a predictably delicious sampling of the chef’s signature dishes with added Alpine pizazz of white truffles and local meats. Sushi and Japanese cuisine is derived from premium seafood ingredients hand-selected by personally trained Nobu chefs with a clientele of the pretty and rich. For those afraid of the raw, Nobu offers local izakayas specialties that tend to all come cooked. The menu mixes traditional fish-finds like Hamachi and Toro sashimi or sushi with Japanese dishes like Black Cod with miso and Kobe beef served to perfection.

Last Word

From December through March, Nobu at Badrutt’s become the chicest dining room in town popular with under-40 billionaires and ambitious models.
